How often should I get my Suzuki serviced?

As of the 1st October 2019 all eligible Suzuki vehicles* are covered by the Suzuki Genuine Service Program. Under the Suzuki Genuine Service Program service checks are required as follows,

  • Non-Turbo Models: Every 12 months or 15,000 kms whichever occurs first.
  • Turbo Models: Every 12 months or 10,000 kms whichever occurs first.

We recommend that you have your Suzuki serviced at an Authorised Suzuki dealer, as staff have had the necessary training, use the Suzuki specialist tools and have experience in looking after the full range of Suzuki vehicles. If you decide to have your vehicle serviced outside of our network, it is important to ensure that any parts fitted are either Genuine Suzuki parts or parts of equivalent quality to meet warranty requirements. It is also necessary to obtain a detailed service invoice listing the parts and oils used in the service, as this information may be required should you need to make a warranty claim. All warranty repairs shall only be carried out by an Authorised Suzuki Dealer. Refer to dealer locator to find your nearest dealer.

It is a franchise requirement that all technicians employed by Authorised Suzuki dealers are trained on Suzuki products. While not compulsory, this helps ensure that your vehicle is serviced or repaired to the highest standards.

The 3yr /100,000 km** warranty supplied with the purchase of all Suzuki vehicles will not be affected if you choose to service at a non-Authorised service outlet, as long as you ensure that it is serviced in accordance with the recommendations in your owner’s service and warranty handbook by a suitable qualified person using only genuine parts and recommended lubricants.

If you have purchased an eligible Suzuki vehicle after the 1st of May 2013, it is only by servicing at an Authorised Suzuki dealer that your service cost will be capped for 5 years* and you will be eligible for the additional warranty offered under the Suzuki Capped Price Service Program.

Toxic substances found in cars include oil, antifreeze, brake fluid and batteries. These substances must be disposed of correctly, often involving temporarily storing them in approved bins. The waste disposal specialists who collect the contents of the bins have to maintain registered vehicles, premises and facilities appropriate for these substances. The licence to carry this out is expensive, with the dealerships themselves incurring significant costs referred to as an environmental charge.

This will depend on the cause of the failure. Your Authorised Suzuki dealer will be able to advise you further, which will involve the inspection of your vehicle. All warranty repairs shall only be carried out by an Authorised Suzuki Dealer.

The standard Suzuki warranty applies to the vehicle and is therefore transferable between owners. Transfer of warranty to a subsequent owner requires completion of the transfer of warranty card located at the rear of the Warranty and Service Record Booklet. If your Suzuki has an extended warranty, please consult the terms and conditions of this agreement for further details.

If a vehicle manufacturer detects a concern on a vehicle that may cause a safety related issue they may undertake a vehicle safety recall whereby they try to locate every affected vehicle in order to have faults rectified, at no cost to the owners, at Authorised Suzuki dealers. Additionally, from time to time Suzuki identify areas where the ownership experience can be improved and may carry out small modifications to improve reliability or function. In Australia, car recalls are operated under a code of practice agreed between FCAI and the car makers. FCAI operates a website which contains detailed information on vehicle recalls in Australia.

If you purchased your Suzuki from a Suzuki dealer your details will have been passed to Suzuki QLD who will then write to you to advise that your vehicle is affected by a safety recall. If you did not purchase your Suzuki from a Suzuki dealer then you will need to advise Suzuki QLD Ltd that you are the new owner of the vehicle, by submitting the details on the transfer of warranty card located at the rear of the Warranty and Service Record Booklet or advising your local Suzuki dealer. If you are unsure if your vehicle is affected by a safety recall then your local Suzuki dealer will be able to check this for you.
